Unless you are a Zen master, in wilderness survival you are going to face stress. That is why you should learn some stress management tools. Some stress is beneficial as it can keep you alert. However, too much stress can lead to many dangerous situations as being “stressed out leads to the following:

  1. Indecisiveness
  2. Worrying too much or rumination
  3. Lack of energy
  4. Make too many mistakes
  5. Withdrawal
  6. Shirking responsibility
  7. Argumentitive

And in extreme situations-

Suicidal thoughts

What can you do?

First of all, realize that you are going to be stressed out. So, don’t stress out that you are stressing out. Personally, I would look into starting a practice of meditation. Also, start a daily regime of breathing exercises. This video below is a great intro on breathing exercises.

Above all, realize that you will be stressed out and that through proper control and exercises you can control it.
